Breaking the MYTHS
About our approach to website accessibility
A generation of myths have developed concerning website accessibility
1. Text-only website versions
Opinion used to be that building a text only version of the website solved accessibility issues. This is now considered an outdated practise, the reason being that it creates two problems:
• site visitors requiring to use the text-only version feel they are made outcasts by having to view a stripped down version of the website
• in many cases the text-only version of the website is not kept up to date with the standard version of the website
SIEN WEB'S approach: It is far, far better to have a visually attractive website that also fulfills accessibility requirements.
2. Accessible websites cannot be visually attractive
Conforming to accessibility guidelines does not require websites to be poorly coded and designed.
SIEN WEB'S approach: There is nothing about website accessibility guidelines that prevents websites from being visually attractive. Any website designer that tells you otherwise simply does not know enough about how to build accessible websites.
